The students of Class VIII, IX and X of Lingdong
Secondary School, U. Dzongu, North Sikkim along with Headmaster and teachers
had gone for two day’s Educational and Exposure trip to Siliguri Science
Centre, Iskon Temple, NJP Railway station and Basil Fun World on 13th
and 14th October. It was a first for the students of Dzongu and most
of the students were visiting Siliguri for the first time. The tour was an eye
opener for most the students and they were made aware about the lots of
scientific models. The students were shown the Taramandal, 3D Theatre, Digital
Planetarium and demonstration of lots of scientific models. One
official from NJP station took the pain of explaining them the working of
Indian railway. He guided the students and showed them the trains and platforms.
The thrill of getting inside the train was visible on the innocent faces of the
children who had only heard of these things. On the last day the students were
taken to the Basil Fun world in Fulbari and they thoroughly enjoyed the rides and
games there.
We are immensely thankful to our Hon’ble Chief Minister
Dr. Pawan Kumar Chamling who had funded the entire amount required for this
tour. The Headmaster along with the students and Teachers would like to
sincerely thank our Hon’ble Chief Minister for his graciousness, without whose
support this excursion would not have been possible.
